New Boat Ready to Break World Electric Water Speed Record

The Electric Record Team UK and their driver, Helen Loney, set a  Electric Water Speed Record on Coniston Water on the 1st November 2005. Following this huge success the team have set their sights higher and have built a new boat.

Firefly a 15 ft Hydroplane, piloted by 26 year old Powerboat Racer, Helen Loney. The boat has been specifically designed for straight-line record speed with a design capability of 130mph.

The team comprises leading technical experts in their fields, which means the boat is fitted with the latest motor and battery technology. The team is proud to show the World that the UK is at the forefront of Electric power technology.

‘FireFly’ had its maiden test runs on Coniston Water in the Lake District, at ‘Record’s Week’ in November 2007. These trials proved to be a great success and the team are working on further developments over the Winter and aim to attempt to set a new ‘World Electric Water Speed Record’ in 2008.
